Holiday entitlement and conditions

A) ANNUAL HOLIDAYS

Your holiday year begins on 1st January and ends on 31st December each year.

Your annual holiday entitlement is shown in your individual Statement of Main Terms of Employment

It is our policy to encourage you to take all of your holiday entitlement in the current holiday year.  We do not permit holidays to be carried forward.  We may due to business needs, from time to time need to review on an individual or group basis this clause.

B) CONDITIONS APPLYING TO YOUR ANNUAL HOLIDAY ENTITLEMENT

You should complete a holiday request using Who’s Off before making any firm holiday arrangements.

Holiday requests will only be considered if submitted this way, we will allocate agreed holiday dates on a “first come – first served” basis ensuring that operational efficiency is maintained, minimum staffing levels are set within Who’s Off.

During some busy periods it will not be possible to pre book holiday, these restricted blocks are set in Who’s Off and requests will be automatically declined.

You should give at least one month’s notice of your request to take holidays of one week’s duration or more and reasonable notice will be required for shorter requests.

You may not normally take more than two working weeks consecutively unless there are exceptional circumstances which have been discussed and agreed with your departmental manager.

Your holiday pay will be at your normal basic pay unless shown otherwise on your Statement of Main Terms.

You may be required to reserve up to four days of your annual holiday entitlement to take during the Christmas / New Year period. If you have not accrued sufficient holiday entitlement or have used your entitlement you may be given unpaid leave of absence.

In the event of the termination of your employment any holidays accrued but not taken will be paid for.  However, in the event of you having taken holidays in the current holiday year, which have not been accrued pro-rata, then the appropriate payments will be deducted from your final wages/salary.

C) PUBLIC/BANK HOLIDAYS

Your entitlement to public/bank holidays and to any additional payment which may be made for working on a public/bank holiday is shown in your individual Statement of Main Terms of Employment.
